Ang Pikon Ay Laging Talo

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Have you read the news lately? This one is about the confrontation which happened during the hearing for the libel case lodged by Mike Arroyo against Jake Macasaet and Malaya. Ika pa nga ni pareng Clark sa Smallville eh, "anybody could be a father but it would take special skills and abilities to be a dad".

To the Editor:

This is in response to the article written by one of your columnists regarding the foundation’s failure to act on a request for assistance sought by a certain blah..blah.

While it’s true that the foundation caters to charitable requests, the foundation is not awashed with money. Each peso we have likewise came from generous sponsors of the foundation and some contributions also sought by the foundation every now and then. So, when one of my staff told them that we have no money. Indeed, it is true that we don’t have money because the funds we have in our possession are already allocated to some other beneficiaries.

In the meantime, when my executive assistant promised a P100,000 assistance we didn’t realized that the patient would be requiring much more than that. As your columnist ably pointed out and a visit by one of my staff at the hospital where the patient is undergoing medical treatment revealed, the patient is spending close to P50,000 a day for her medical needs alone.

That is why in the end, we referred the matter to the PCSO which, in our opinion, can be of more assistance to the patient given her long-term medical needs. We, at the foundation meanwhile would just monitor the case from time to time and give financial support whenever possible.

In behalf of the foundation, I humbly apologize for my staff’s failure to clearly explain the matter to the patient and to their family. Likewise, we hope that with this letter, we have clarified the foundation’s source of funding and sometimes failure to act at once regarding other requests for assistance.

Thank you very much and please do not hesitate to support further the foundation and provide suggestions how we can further improve our operation in providing assistance to our poor and less fortunate brothers and sisters.

Eh ano kung pakitang-tao lang pala ang letter mo, at least you defended yourself and made yourself clear through a more civilized and educated manner. You don’t fight fire with fire, it would only make matters worse. Like what GMA did when she issued EO 464, CPR, and placed the nation under the state of emergency just when the country is commemorating the anniversary of the first people power.
